On behalf of the organisation we welcome you to this site.
Applied Plant Research (PPO) Westmaas and the Dutch Organisation for Potato Merchants (NAO) jointly organise the Potato Demo Day. In addition to the networking and demonstration function, this meeting place of the potato sector focuses on generating and disseminating knowledge in the chain.
The Potato Demo Day is held every other year on the PPO site in Westmaas. That day you can enjoy experimental fields, demonstrations indoors and outdoors, lectures and a grand trade fair. To emphasise the importance of the meeting place function, we as organisation deliberately opt for a one-day event that is as easily accessible as possible.
Also every other year, starting in 2007, the Potato Demo Day will be organised as an informative convention. That will revolve around meeting each other and providing information on topical subjects.
Previous editions
The Potato Demo Day was first held in 2001 as business relations day organised by Nedato B.V. and it developed into a national chain event of international standing. As from 2004, the Potato Demo Day is organised by NAO and PPO Westmaas. The daily management is the responsibility of Rene van Diepen, Thie Arend Brouwer, Marcel Tramper and Hanja Slabbekoorn.
Meeting place for the potato sector
The Potato Demo Day has a clear function as meeting place for the potato sector. Producers, traders and processors can informally catch up on the latest news at the start of the next season. The organisation will facilitate this in a variety of ways. Marketing potatoes and potato products is an essential process in the potato chain. Will the consumer be served optimally at minimum costs? Consequently, fine-tuning between links in the chain, dissemination of knowledge, research and cooperation, are essential functions. The growth of the event in numbers of visitors and participants indicates that there is a need for such an initiative.
We look forward to welcoming you on 22 August 2012 at Westmaas.
